Kumi Kumi Savings Initiative Launched to Empower Christians

The Mumias Community Development Trust (MUCODET) has officially launched the Kumi Kumi saving initiative, aimed at encouraging Christians to save at least ten shillings every Sunday. The grand event took place today at ACK Bishop James Hannington Cathedral, bringing together clergy, saving champions, and church leaders from across the Mumias Diocese.
Representatives from the banking sector, including Equity Bank, which serves as the initiative’s official banker, were present to offer financial training. In his address, Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Wandera emphasized the importance of financial empowerment in ministry. “We cannot continue preaching to people who remain in poverty. Our ministry must be complete by empowering them,” he urged.
The event also featured inspiring success stories from MUCODET beneficiaries since its inception in 2019.Demonstrating their commitment, the attendees collectively raised KES 69,130 to support the initiative.
